Myspace Should Add Elementary and Middle Schools
MySpace has proven to be a great way to reconnect with old friends for me. People I haven't talked to in over a decade have tracked me down through the service, rekindling old friendships in a matter of minutes. What impresses me the most about this is that some of the connections came from people I didn't go to college or high school with. They were elementary school or junior high school friends. Since MySpace doesn't provide the ability to include elementary or middle schools in profiles, my long-time friends had to track me down by searching local high schools they didn't personally attend. While this worked, it's a clunky solution compared to matching people up by ALL of the schools they attended. I've tried running similar searches to track down classmates from before high school. It's not easy. Since most MySpace users go by only their first name, it's hard to know for sure if the person I'm looking for is really who I think they are. Having additional data to work with, such as elementary school and years attended, would help tremendously. Connecting with old friends is one of MySpace's most powerful features from my perspective. I'd love to see them further enable this type of connection.

Kevin, I believe that's correct, but I'm referring more to social networks tied to grade schools more than allowing access to people who are still in grade school.

You can wish all you want, but how awkward does it look for a 30+ year old man [judging from your image] looking for friends from elementary years???? Get off it! What a loser, many people don't even remember what their teachers name was apart from 'some kid in elementary', you may or may not have been friends with. Imagine how stupid you'd look when you pop up and go, "Hi! Do you remember me from elementary? I remember you. :)" That will be regarded as weird and stalkerish, considering you remember them 30 years or more since that grade.
Leave people from elementary in the past... permanently. Same kinda goes for middle school. I'm doing you a favor, girls will have more of the 'omg, this guy expects me to remember from that long ago?! weirdo *clicks block*', although guys might be more open to the memory, they can also get freaked out by it as well.

Whatever/Unconvinced, one of the great things about social networks is their flexibility. I, indeed, am in my 30's, which means the people I grew up with are also in their 30's now.
I wrote this post 20 months ago. Since that time, Facebook has proven effective at achieving the goal of this post for me. Groups have been formed for the two elementary schools I attended, and I have managed to reconnect with people I haven't heard from in a long time. My experiences have been much different from what you've described. But maybe that's just me.

That sounds like a good idea but I don't remember the people I went to elementary with.
